Alexey Simanovskiy

First Deputy Governor, Bank of Russia

Alexey Simanovskiy was born in Moscow in 1955.

After graduating from the Moscow Finance Institute in 1978, he worked for the Ministry of Finance of the RSFSR and Ministry of Road Transport of the RSFSR.

Since 1986 he has held various positions at the State Bank of the USSR and the Bank of Russia. Since 1996 he has served as Director of the Prudential banking supervision department of the Bank of Russia, which was subsequently renamed the Banking regulation and supervision department of the Bank of Russia.

He was appointed Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia in 2011.

Since February 2012 he has served as First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia responsible for regulation and supervision of credit institutions and banking groups.

Alexey Simanovskiy is on the Board of the Bank of Russia and Chairman of the Banking Supervision Committee of the Bank of Russia.

He is involved in the work of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision on behalf of the Bank of Russia.

Alexey Simanovskiy holds a Ph.D. in economics and has been awarded the title of the Honoured Economist of the Russian Federation.

He is married with four children.
