Financial Markets: Increasing Complexity, Maintaining Stability

    The future of money and money of the future will be discussed at the roundtable “Cash circulation and non-cash payment strategy. Vision of the regulator and market participants”, which will be held on June 30 as part of the 25th International Financial Congress in St. Petersburg. 

    Money circulation is one of the most important aspects of the financial system in any country, while the rapid development of digital technology has changed the payment landscape dramatically. 

    The prospects for cash payments will be addressed by Georgy Luntovsky, Senior Vice-Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, and representatives of foreign regulators, including Enrica Teresa Vignoli, head of the General Cashier Directorate at the Bank of Italy, and Alain Gerbier, Director of the Cash Department at the Bank of France.    

    Promising solutions and innovations in the cash sphere will be voiced by Arkady Trachuk, General Director of Joint Stock Company Goznak (Russia) , Ralf Wintergerst, Member of the Board and Chairman of the Banknote and Currency Management Unit at Giesecke & Devrient GmbH (Germany), and Jeroen Kusters, Chief Commercial Officer at Kusters Engineering BV (the Netherlands).

    The key trends in, drivers for and barriers to development of non-cash settlements, as well as the prospects for digital currencies, will be covered by Alla Bakina, Director of the National Payment System Department at the Bank of Russia, Gynedi Srinivas of the World Bank, and Vladimir Urbanskiy, head of E-Business Division at AO ALFA-BANK.
